I have prepared nanoparticles by the simple route (co precipitation method). I have obtained hydrated nano particles. My material is Transition metal Oxide. Now how can I remove the attached water molecules? Does the removal of water effect my material?
You can use 'Hot & Cold chamber' with controlled temperature. Better to dry in a slow process. Slow process will not affect the material property.
I would not dry the particles in an oven, if you use ionic surfactant in your synthesis. Try to make a phase transfer and dry obtained unpolar supension f.e. with silica.
If your material is heat sensitive then must go for freeze drying for complete removal of water.
Your nanoparticles can agglomerate by freeze drying. I would stay in a liquid phase.
I think going for higher temperature to remove the hydrated part is better than freezing rather It depends on which is your material, If your material is transition metal Oxide as I think It is, so you should heat it in furnace at about 500-700 d.c, the hydrated part will be rremoved
