Assumptions:

  • A shotbolt is housed in an aluminium enclosure and is physically pushed open by a metal CAM.
  • Changes of 0,5 °C/min over a range of 20 °C may be assumed for open-air changes.
  • The yearly average humidity level of the external ambient is 75 % of relative humidity.
  • On 30 days in the year, continuously, the level of the external ambient relative humidity can be in the range of 75 % to 95 %.

The effects of rapid temperature changes need be considered. Could anyone point me in the right direction to a source that can quantify the statistical probability of a shotbolt solenoid freezing in an open state.

Thanks for your help.
