The distinguished age of the Gangdese arc is ~50-80 Ma. Some of the detritus in the Neogene Siwalik Group are of ~50-60 Ma. Does it resemble the possibility of sediments from Gangdese arc? I am confused so please I need your help.
I would guess there's not much Gangdese detritus in the Siwalik foreland, which mostly developed later. The attached paper describes sediments of the older foreland basin, which is not exposed behind the Great Himalaya in the Tethyan zone.
If you find the DZ of ~50-80 Ma in Siwalik sequence ( L Miocene ) then what would be the possible source of it ??? But numbers are very few some 2-4 grains
I'm really not an expert here, but I suppose the Gangdese arc is a possible source. Also, there are some minor volcanics (Aulis Volcanics) in the Tansen Group on the Indian margin, undated in 1994 thought to be Mesozoic, probably too old. you might contact P. Gautam and/or MR Dhital at Tribhuvan University in Katmandu. They know the Siwaliks quite well.
