In metallurgy the effective heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of transient nucleate boiling processes are used which are ten times less as compared with the real HTCs. The original technique for intesifying quenching of steel components was developed which eliminates film boiling and intensifies quenching due to nucleate boiling processes.
Follow brine quenching ( NaCl salt in water ) which is the most efficient process to achieve nucleant boiling. Or use high pressure water spray. These processes facilitate breaking and removal of vapour blanket at the early stage with increase in HTCs.
Thanks, Dr, Ojha ! As you know, quenching in water NaCl solution results in high corrosion. High pressure water spray is suitable for single part quenching. For batch quenching water solutions with high critical heat flux densities, which prevent corrosion, are often used. I think, the maim attention should be paid to developing special additives which could increase significantly the first critical heat flux density of solution.
