Experimentally it was observed that Zinc oxide is positively charged in aqueous solution. I am particularly interested in understanding the surface polarisation and accumulation of H+ on the surface of this particular nanoparticle which is its distinguishable feature from other nanoparticles. Some references will be appreciated.

Zinc oxide nano particles typically have neutral hydroxyl groups attached to their surface, which plays a key role in their surface charge behaviour [Qu F. and Morais P. C. 1999; Qu F. and Morais P. C. 2001]. In aqueous medium and at high pH, the chemisorbed protons (H+ ) move out from the particle surface leaving a negatively charged surface with partially bonded oxygen atoms (ZnO− ). At lower pH, protons from the environment are likely transferred to the particle surface, leading to a positive charge from surface ZnOH2 + groups. The isoelectric point of 9–10 [Degen A and Kosec M. 2000] indicates that ZnO nanoparticles will have a strong positive surface charge under physiological conditions

Although from a academic standpoint these answers are correct they rarely apply to commercial industrial zinc oxide that is prepared by both the french process and the sulfate process and are not nanoparticles but have a particle size distribution and in most cases post treated. Nanoparticle in solution is not the same as nanoparticles in the solid state that agglomerate therefore no longer nano particles.
