I will be working with a murine microglial cell line and intend to test the effect of a compound on the phagocytic activity of a microglia. The compound has a putative activity against a type of proteinopathy. Therefore, E. coli or Zymosan may not be the optimal choice to conduct the assay. I was wondering if there are commercially available assays that are protein-based. I also wanted to know if using E. coli or Zymosan for this type of study is acceptable, given that the condition under evaluation is not pathogen-based. Finally, I would appreciate if anyone could provide feedback on the Phagocytosis Assay Kit (IgG FITC) by Cayman Chemical, and if it is suitable for the abovementioned purpose.

Thanks a million.
