What is the normal blood concentration of Erythropoietin (Epo)? What is the minimum level reported in medical conditions like Chronic Renal Failure etc.? What is the maximum reported concentration in conditions like Polycythemia etc.?

EPo levels vary inversely with Hct (Hb) in patients without kidney disease if measured over a wide range (Hct of 15-50%).
Over a normal Hb range of 13 to 17 g/dL, the range of EPO is 4-24 depending on the assay used. Some go as low as 2 mU/mL
In chromic renal failure, levels tend to be "normal" to slightly high but these are inappropriately low for the Hb, if anemia is present.
PV patients by definition do not need EPO for precursor maturation into erythroblast and the high Hb suppresses EPO levels below detectable.
The values observed in 170 healthy adults with normal hematocrit are: 3.3 to 23.4 mU/ml
(from WE and WL Owen Roberts, Clinica Chimica Acta, 2011, 412: 480-482).
Numerical level of EPO in blood is not clinically important as the biological response
to EPO. This response could by modified by several factors other than the therapeutic level of EPO itself. These include iron storage, inflammatory cytokines, acidosis,
uremic state, etc.

But, in chronic kidney diseases the level of EPO is lowered notably. So, I just want to know the normal level of EPO in healthy people as well as the minimum reported level in diseased individuals. Kindly, throw some more light on this.
