For silk infection the 1 to 6 days of high susceptibility is noted.

To get a uniform field infection wait till the first day emergance of slik then cut the tassiel tip in the afternoon 2 cm below the tip.

Use a glassine shoot bag to cover.

The next day about 4 PM take off the shoot bag inoculate with your spore soultion and cover up the inoculated shoot bag.

It takes about 30 to 40 days to get the mature ear with mature seed.

Taking the infection rate by plating surface disinfected kernels you could see the infection dynamic looking at 10 20 and 40 days after inoculation for the re inoculation percentage.

The inoculation can be achieved by as simple as mere injection on to the plant system. in case of Top rot causing fungus of sugarcane we got good success. U may try this method and observe for the symptoms. All the best

injecting the fungal culture grown in liquid media with the help of syringe into the stems directly help me to study fusarium stalk rot in corn.

You must prepare a suitable spore suspension of the pathogen Fusarium verticillioides, put it in a suitable volume sterile syringe and then inject the spore suspension in the plant stem near the tip. You need some time to see the symptoms appearance.
