What are the lowest cellulase enzyme dose (FPU/g biomass) that are used by cellulosic ethanol industries for enzymatic hydrolysis of pretreated lignocellulosic biomass (such as acid or alkali pretreated wheat straw/rice straw/corn stover etc.)
It depends on number of factors for example the nature of substrate( as you are using three different substrates, the enzyme preparation you are using, if you are using Accellerase 1500 (complete/efficient cellulose mix) it might take 5mg protein/g of glucan to release 70-80% glucose from alkali pretreated corn stover. Please read Banerjee et al 2010, biotechnology for biofuels 3:22. for details.
Depending on the enzyme supplier, you will have different answers. What we most often hear is in the range of 1 to 6% w/w (g enzyme/100 g glucan). As mentioned, it will depend on other factors, e.g. type of biomass, pretreatment, end product in mind, hydrolysis/fermentation strategy, and total solids in the hydrolysis.
Sorry for not writing in FPU/g biomass, but industrially that is not always the prefered way you dose your enzyme.
