Recently I saw a mathematics paper in which there were 14 self-citations in the reference list of 15. Among 14 self-citations, 11 papers were of the same year. Some were communicated, some were accepted and remaining were published. Is it acceptable or there is some defined limit of self-citations?

Yogesh - the example that you illustrate does seem somewhat excessive and is highly questionable. However, there may be context for it to occur - although I doubt it in such a case as you do present. The author may be part of a small niche discipline whereby they are the 'leading' author in a relatively small suite of journals. I regularly cite my own work - mainly because I believe that I am one of the leading authors in my main field. Every now and again I may cite up to 10 of my sources - but against say 50 others and always published material. On the other hand, it is not uncommon to see other authors cite around the same amount of my citations in their work. So - in answer to your main question - I don't think that there is an 'official' limit - but systems do monitor it. For instance, many metrics (including RG) identify overall h-index scores - but also highlight scores including self-citation.
If there are reasons to cite you can cite multiple times but should not be cited unnecessarily.
It is better to avoid citing communicated paper because there is no guarantee that it will definitely be accepted for publication or might undergo drastic change after the review process.

From the example you gave, it means author simply republished his previous research work possibly to increase his papers. I believe that citations are a fundamental part of an article. Their choice must be accurate to corroborate the results, but also to give further openings of knowledge and reflection beyond the restricted number of words provided for in a scientific article. If this is the aim and we pursued it with intellectual honesty, then I do not believe that there is an appropriate or predetermined threshold to self-citations.
No stated limit, but lots of self citarions tell lot about the author...

Are you sure it was not inaugural lecture? Even though there is limitation to self citation (not aware of any) but I am of the opinion that it should be kept moderate to promote reliability.
Dear Segun Michael Abegunde, the paper I mentioned was published as a research article in a peer reviewed journal. Interesting thing is that, I found another paper of the same author in which there are 23 self citations in the list of 25 references.

I think a moderate amount of self-citation is often inevitable. But excessive self-citation can be considered rather crass and unprofessional, and in some cases is unethical. However, in some circumstances, self-citation (even excessive self-citation) may be valid and forgivable. For example, if you are in a restricted field of research, self-citation may be unavoidable.
The citation should be justified. Even though, authors are greedy to pull-in themselves that not justified to superimpose.
e.g.
"Earth is spherical (AAA etal., 2018)"
Very well replied @ Jahangir Khan that author must have justifiable citations.
Sometimes the author exaggerates, for exemple: 21 self-citation and only 5 other citations. Is it normal? I don't know.
There is no limit to the citation the most important that the is the research has a scientific value and this is the most important goal.
in academic organization: the is a research plan put out by the author and this plan should reviewed by a scientific committie to approve it. research checked by the committi every couple months I thing this is will limit the citation

Well, there is no certain limit to self citation. However, it doesn't sound very ethical to self-cite 14 papers. One or two self-citations is good enough.
Self-citation takes away one's energy from actual scientific research and scientific writing.
