Giemsa stain is one of the best known histological stains which make the nuclei dark blue and the cytoplasm blue to pink; according to the acidity of the cytoplasmic Giemsa stain is used in Giemsa banding, which is commonly called as G-banding, to stain chromosomes and often used to create a karyogram (chromosome map). It can identify chromosomal aberrations such as translocations and rearrangements (Methods in Enzymology, 2010).
