SPSS means the statistical package for social sciences. It has a wide coverage of problem solving: t-test, z-test, ANOVA, f-test, nonparametric methods, Bartlett test, regression analysis, time series analysis, multivariate techniques, etc. It is user-friendly.
It is a wonderful multipurpose program used in statistical analysis characters with accuracy in data analysis for many tests as Dr. Ette Etuk mentioned above.
In quantitative scientific research, we need to present data in meaningful manner to come out with reasonable conclusions. Small sized data ,may be handled manually or using pocket calculator. If large set of data exists, then a statistical package is required. SPSS is one of these packages. When the data are correctly fed on SPSS, it can be a useful data base. SPSS is very helpful in data checking, in simple tabular presentation and in complex statistical analysis. A researcher handling numerical data and postgraduate candidates need to have and to know how to use SPSS or other packages.
