The prospects of microgrids is immense in the power world. More so in developing countries where the power shortage and electricity cuts are some of the reasons why the governments are investing in this field. There are several architectures of microgrids and each one of them depend upon the application and needs of the network. For starters I will ask you to follow Dr. Guerrero's and his group's papers. They will give you a really nice insight into the type of research that they are conducting.

Future of the Micro-grids is a debating topic.It has immense power of bringing new technologies in the market.For instance,i am working on intelligent systems in smart grids where things are already progressing towards intelligent automation rather then depending on conventional human beings.Machines are making intelligent decisions to control the conventional power.I am afraid that these intelligent devices will cut down the job opportunities in future as they are capable of doing every task in minimal time while removing human intervention.
