Hi,
Aiming to set up an Electrochemiluminescence cell, for positioning the photodiode detector properly, we want to know that which part of the cell is the exact site of emission.
Surface of working electrode?
Solution media?
Or maybe the surface of Counter Electrode in some cases?

just surface of working electrode? Even in cyclic voltammetry when direction of current rverse?
I suppose your electroactive species (eas) is in solution. Thus the emission occurs in a thin solution layer near the working electrode surface (when a small amount of eas is oxidised).
Ignore any process at the counter electrode. If you want to not see emission at CE, use a membrane to separate the two cell compartments and fill the counter electrode compartment with an electrolyte solution without eas.
