I collected some geotagged photos using a smartphone with a built-in dual-frequency GNSS chipset. during some survey in several towns in Java Island, Indonesia. I uploaded it to google photos and then presented the result on Google My Maps. I noticed that there are some photos that have a relatively bigger error (up to 30 meters). I wonder if you have experienced this too? What is the range of geotagging errors for smartphones using the built-in GNSS chipset in it?
All depends on the several factors: visibility of SVs, potential ion sources of error, filtering of position by Receiver and finally application You used ( can also filter the position in statistical manner). In my geotags error were significant (cep>20m ) in the cities, and when I make photos in fast manner (gnss could not fix for some amount of time).
