Some hospitals, due to cost, (especially in the under-developed and developing countries) use non-vacuum plain tubes for serum where methodology stipulates the use of vacutainer plain tubes. Can I use the hospital's non-vacuum tubes or insist samples be collected again in vacutainer tubes? What is the effect of the non-vacuum tubes on the blood/serum?
