The impact of COVID-19 pandemic is seen in every sector around the world. As far as the education sector is concerned, it is badly affected by this. All the schools, colleges and all educational activities halted. Both the positive and negative impacts of COVID-19 on education are observed. The lockdown destroyed the schedules of every student. COVID opportunities to come out of the rigorous classroom teaching model to a new era of digital model. It has worked as a catalyst for the educational institutions to grow and opt for platforms with technologies, which have not been used before.
COVID19 has disrupted the normal way of life and the aftermath has had a great bearing on the academic world. The death toll, the loss of loved ones, the gloomy atmosphere have adversely affected all aspects of academic activities one way or the other.
Education sector has suffered a lot due to the outbreak of COVID-19. It has created many negative impacts on education like: Educational activity hampered, Impact on employment etc.
Though the outbreak of COVID-19 has created many negative impacts on education, educational institutions of India have accepted the challenges and trying their best to provide seamless support services to the students during the pandemic. Indian education system got the opportunity for transformation from traditional system to a new era.
This is very unfortunate that the world is facing many problems due to the emergence of COVID-19.The economy of the world is shattered, and many people have to lose their jobs. The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has a negative impact on education, research, and also the students.
Long time the shutdown of the academic institutions has carried out the tremendous negative effects on education, research and student life. Converse, C-19 has accelerated the e-learning or virtual learning, indeed.
Negativeness in all educational areas. This applies to schools of technical schools, universities. If Corona-19 does not "subside" further, the world will collapse in education and science. Very sad.
Whether it is the personal life of students or the environment of school and colleges, coronavirus pandemic has changed things that were never thought of before. The details of impact on students life can be accessed at:
It's a pity teachers refuse to seize the opportunity of a deep reform of education through distance education. All frames should be renewed. Educators have to think of new teaching methods and evaluations, but they go on with the old useless class-in-person system and appearance. For example: in an Internet-connected world, what is the use of learning by memory?
Zoom fatigue by lecturers and learners. Here in Japan, the situation is getting dire for some teachers. Part-timers are having an especially difficult time. If they teach at numerous universities they may have to learn and control 2-3 different online systems.
Everything has moved virtually starting from conferences to all the classes and team meetings making the workspace comfortable but also some of them take it for granted and extend the work hours.
I think my opinion is not that much of value for the scientific community so I went out for searching high quality material:

Education in the time of Corona is very good for students who are really interested in education, and on the contrary it is bad for neglected students who do not like to learn and make excuses so that they do not learn.
Many students own smart devices, but they use them in games and do not use them in their studies, and this is the real problem.
Covid affects negatively to the classical education system. However,it is opportunity to open remote education system. IT should be the new role in the process of learning.
The positive impact is that people got to learn about the different technological methods used for e lrearning that they have not used before. The negative impact is that now people are more obnoxious about their health causing their distraction from the learning process.
Thanks, everyone for your valuable contributions to this thread of discussion. It has been concluded from the discussion that majorly COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on all the above-said domains of education.
The effects I guess have been seen at multiple levels and it is different in developed nations while compared to under developed nations too. Higher percentage of poor students from developing and underdeveloped countries have had great difficulties in accessing study resources, while not much of an impact has been seen in most developed nations, simply because of accessibility to good technology, finance and internet. Historical research using available data could somehow be conducted, while on field investigations were put to a stop. But still, higher impacts was seen in psychological behavior of students, due to their lack of access to school and surrounding areas, and home confinement.
Yes, I agreed and concluded that COVID-19 has affected all the areas of Education and Research. Besides this, there are some positive effects also as we have enough time to draft research articles, book chapters also. we switched to e-learning mode to avoid gatherings in educational institutes.
Thanks to everyone for contributing to this discussions
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education, research and student life is both positive and negative. On the positive side, online learning skills have been formed. On the downside, they were limited in their ability to express themselves and communicate freely.
COVID-19 Pandemic stuck our normal education life. Nevertheless, we are trying to do the class through the ZOOM but internet is a great problem in this regards.
The Corona pandemic has a great impact on life and has side effects, as education decreases for children and attachment to electronics has a large place in their lives.
University students are still getting used to the online mode of education. Their course load has increased. Faculty members are facing problems with student motivation and engagement. Most students find online classes boring and believe they can study better on their own through web resources.
Main effect on education in backward areas is that most of the students have left the schools and started to do work physically in different fields for earn
Education, research and students' life have a similarity. None of these are activities or segments of life where a person can afford to be alone always. Group/ team work plays a significant role in these. This pandemic has ensured that group/ team work gets stopped, there by hampering/ disturbing the flow of activities.
I think the lack of interaction between students is having a highly negative effect. 1st year university students here in Japan feel somewhat cheated that they can not have the 'real university' experience. They are stuck in their homes or socially distanced on campus. They are unable to chat f2f with friends, use the library facilities freely, or join school clubs. They are also restricted in what kind of part-time jobs they can have. Their cash flow has been severely restricted.
Additionally, there is the uncertainty of this virus. They are scared that they might be next.
