Well, the terms are overlapping in their use in science. I would answer it as...In molecular biology a research method followed to get a result may or may not cover one or more techniques. For example Gene Cloning method (suppose for a bacterial DNA segment) can be performed by either PCR based technique or by host-vector based one or by both.
Although a technique also involves its own method, however its not a research method.
Well, to simplify, one can say...in general way to understand.....the Technique is a machine based method.....or Technique is a type of method that depends on machine.
Oah... I can say that technique is what skill you have to get for doing something; method is the way you have to follow to do something. For one method you can use one technique or more; or you can apply one technique for more than one method.
Simple: Methods are complex procedures that may imply one or several varied techniques. Ex.: METHOD: GENOTYPING (ex.: atypical pathogen strain) using a varied array of techniques.
In my own opinion, I agreed with @Rogerio's explanation. Method encompass variety of techniques. For example, think of clustering methods in data mining such as Partitioning method. This method contain techniques such as K-means, K-medoids and so on. Another example is decision tree-based method for classification in data mining, which contains techniques such as Random Forest, C4.5, etc.
