(De)hydration of salt hydrates can be monitored with TGA (Thermal Gravimetric Analysis). TGA experiments can be done under atmospheric pressures or under "vacuum" (actually only water vapor present).

1. Are there detailed reports in the literature comparing these two cases (air or vacuum) on one particular salt hydrate? If so, could you send me references?

2. What is the cause for differences? Is at kinetic effect? How does it act?
