Your question doesn't make a lot of sense.
You can't compare a headstage and an electrode. In fact, a headstage usually will have an electrode plugged into it. Also, 99% of the time, one wouldn't use the headstage of a microelectrode amplifier to provide field stimulation, due to its very low current passing ability (though it sounds like you're applying very unusual field stimulation, so perhaps this time is the 1% of cases).
Maybe you should try to make your question a bit clearer. What are you actually trying to do, and what is the equipment you have available? (i.e. what is going to drive your pencil shaped concentric electrode?)
