For α-type Ti alloys such as some TA series, water queching from temperature above Tβ can induce the formation of acicular α’ martensite within hcp-α matrix. However, the atomic structures of these two phase, α’ and α, are very similar, and sometimes the compositional discrepancy between them is also not significant. Thus, XRD, TEM-SADP, EDS are not accesible approachs to distinguish them. My question is, what characterization technique is possible to identify these two phase adn how should I to do that? Thanks!
