In India, before eye check-up, one undergoes the process of dilatation.
At some places, the same process (getting eyes diluted a few times with eye-drops for doctors to examine the patient's eyes well) is called 'dilation'.
What is the correct usage? Dilation or Dilatation?
Is there any difference between these?!

Sundarapandian, it's exacly the same thing - same case, as, say, between 'preventative' and 'preventive', etc.
Dilation is formed from 'to dilate' whereas dilatation comes directly from a Latin noun. This happens so often in English (a same word coming into the language via different routes and thereby giving rise to slightly different renditions) that there is even a word for it: such words are called doublets.
