The dots mean 0-dimensional materials. Quantum dots mean nano-scale semiconductors, not metal or insulator nanomaterials. and Carbon dots are the 0-dimensional carbon materials in which we cannot exactly divide the carbon material class into metal, semiconductor or insulator beacuse of their versatility. so, we just calls 'Carbon' materials not distinguishing carbon materials as metal semiconductor or insulators.
