What is the detection limit of hexavalent chromium by Diphenylcarbazide method?

During DPC method I got a problem. After adding DPC reagent into the sample under study, the characteristics purple color developed but soon disappears within seconds. Hence, i would like to know the actual cause behind this problem. If possible provide me a standardized protocol.

We used to use the Hach ampules for field analysis of hexavalent chromium that is the DCP method with their spectrophotometer. They state a 0.010 mg/L detection limit. Our experience comparing their results with icp/ms of total chromium at ppb detection limits agreed within the hach stated detection limits / accuracy of that method.
