I don't know of any bioethanol process which uses seaweed as a raw material. The biomass will require significant pre-processing to allow the release of fermentable sugars which can be transformed to ethanol. What makes you think this is being done commercially?
Thank you sir for your information. i am working from 2011 onwards on bioethanol production and i also felt the same what you suggested now, but i have come across many research papers from 2011 onwards and they are quoting the commercial aspects and economics and even cost of production bioethanol from seaweeds at pilot scale level. yes as you suggested many process requires energy and time for fermentation while using seaweed as a substrate. currently i am doing PhD and i want to include in my thesis that any commercial companies doing R&D work and production at pilot scale level. Despite the potential of algae, I do not know of any economically-viable commercial-scale quantities of fuel from either micro- or macroalgae
