How are you preparing your NPs? Mostly, what Se precursor are you employing? Your colour could arise from Cd(OH)2. CdSe varies as Alexei said, between dep red to orange and even yellowish.
The answer to this question must be evolved from your another question on multiple XRD peaks. It seems your sample contains additional phases. Though the colour is size dependent property, white colour may not be correct for a single phase CdSe NPs. I would rather suggest to make modifications to your synthesis procedure.
Then you probably do not get any free Se2- in the media, thus not having CdSe but very possibly Cd hydroxide. As Rao said, probably you need to consider changing your synthesis method.
