Hi!

I am willing to used the Canvas material (Fredrix Canvas #548) proposed by Slocum et al. (2009) for assessing decomposition. They state that this material is almost 100% cotton. On my awareness, nor them or other previous cellulose decomposition test have analysed the cotton materials.

I found that cotton is aproximately 91-94% cellulose. If I calculate that manually it gives that cotton is around 41.77% Carbon (C). I can used this as an estimate, however I wonder if some one have done the chemical analysis of cotton canvas or cloths before.

Thanks for your help!

Raquel
