I am performing water DNA extraction, but I need to store the samples for some months before I can analyze them. Is there any published or known protocol to store such samples?
That is correct. But I wanted to know a better or published protocol to store the sample from which DNA has not been extracted yet. It is not always feasible to extract DNA when on the field. So I was wondering if anybody can shed some light on it.
You can also cryopreserve your samples. I have performed both DNA and RNA extractions from frozen pellets. RNA extraction requires minimal duration of freezing, non more than a week, while, DNA extraction can be performed on samples stored longer.
