I purchased collagen powder (from Bovine Achilles Tendon) from Sigma and I've been trying to dissolve it, but so far with no luck, I tried dissolving it in 6M HCL, I also tried using acetic acid but nothing seems to work. Is there another acid that I can use? Or should I try dissolving it using an alkali? If so can you kindly provide me with a protocol for alkali hydrolysis?

I have used Collagen from bovine achilles tendon from company Sigma-Aldrich.
I followed the recipe given by PhD thesis of Dr. Yang (section 3.2.2) from University of Twente

I have dissolved the powder in 0.01 M HCl in 1:1 mg/ml concentration (which is not mentioned in the protocol)
And It worked for very well for me.
