I am doing finite element analysis of a notched steel component with nonlinear material properties. I have tried different element types for meshing and the analysis results are different in each case. Since notched part is very sensitive due to its higher stress concentration. Therefore, an appropriate element type should be selected for modeling such components. Can anyone guide me in this matter?

I think Hexahedral and Tetrahedral elements with reduced integration can be adopted for modeling such kind of notches for the analysis purpose. Moreover, the parametric study must be done to select the best element type for the better simulation results.

2D shell elements or 3D solid elements could be employed for such geometry. However, convergence analysis is needed for better and accurate results.
