I would like to learn people's opinions about converting the obtained Monte Carlo results into Gray.. Actually there is some methods that i found in literature but let say, there is no sufficient explanation.. May i can have the different opinions.. Thank you in advance for eveybody..
Which output results and from which Monte Carlo code are in question?
Gray is the unit of the absorbed dose, i.e. deposited energy per unit of mass, [MeV/g]. All major Monte Carlo codes provide a built-in estimator for this quantity. In case of MCNP (for example), this is exactly what the output of the F6 tally gives.
The output of MC is only in relative value. To convert the relative value to the absolute value (e.g. in Gy), we should calibrate using measurement in the standard condition. From this calibration, we get the conversion factors.
The Output of an MC simulation is relative to its maximum depth signal. To convert to absolute dose, you need your corresponding MU.
If you want to benchmark MC data against measurements, normalize MC data (as well as measured data) to dmax and then multiply results with corresponding # of MUs used for measurements.
