I want to perform a measurement to produce a polarization curve using a potentiostat and a 3-electrode setup. My goal is to determine potential losses at a Ni electrode for urea electrooxidation, and though I have read many texts that explain the different losses and how they relate to the electromotive force and open circuit potential, I am still unsure the best way to perform the experiment. My understanding is a linear sweep technique is all I need, but I am not sure how to set my potential sweep parameters (i.e., whether vs. open circuit voltage or vs. the reference electrode, and what the potential values should be vs. one or the other)?
