if any one can help? the best method for fitting a thermocouple on a flate plate or cylinder without affecting the conuctivity of the materials and the flow of the fluid? did the the probe of the thermocouple must be inside a hole in plate or it doesn't matter?
in flat plate you must make a groove in a plate with width equal the thickness of thermocouple and use welding material (there is many types and methods for that) does not effect on the thermal properties of the plate materials if you use numbers of T/C not just one. Also, try to let the T/C bulb or bed as small as you can.
thankx for all the important contributions from the researchers but i want to ensure; is there an emergancy to make a hole in the surface plate to fit the thermocpoule on the surface or it depend?
You can make a hole just for fit the bed of thermcouple, and the groove can be underneath the plate surface for inserting and fixing the wire of T/C
I agree with Dr. Saad El-Sayed, i think it is the best way to reduce the error. But stil there is an error you should take into consideratiin
