I am leaning towards that kit. The only thing that I am cautious about is the required purchase of additional materials to isolate miRNA. I am now looking Qiagen’s RNeasy Mini Kit as it allows for separate isolation of mRNAs and miRNAs. Only thing is, I don’t know how the kit does with lipid tissues
I haven't done miRNA, but for mRNA from adipocytes, I used TRIzol from Life Technologies; it was a very easy work-up. If I can answer any other questions, let me know!

Hello Josh! Thank you for your response. I was biased against using TRIzol but have since warmed up to the idea. What I am thinking is to use TRIzol to isolate the total RNA and proteins (ELISA is later down-stream analysis). After using TRIzol to extract total RNA, I would use the RNeasy Mini Elute Kit (Qiagen) to isolate mRNA and miRNA. In addition I would follow up with an on-column DNase digestion step.
