Hi,

I would go for 4% FA, 48h at 4 C. The length of fixation is also crucial, depending on your aim with the tissue. For standard HE staining it could go for a longer fixation, the preservation of the morphology is better. For IHC, overfixation might kill the epitopes and can result as a negative staining.

This paper provides a protocol for adrenal glands fixation. I personnaly keep it in PFA 4% for approximately 24h at 4°C.

If it is only for histology, paraffin embedding and hematoxylin eosin staining you may try standard Bouin's fixative also.
