We have a Olympus FV1200 confocal microscope with 405, 473, 559, and 635 lasers.
I'm looking for a nuclear dye (fixed cells) in the far red range, does anyone have any recommendations for a good dye? The next closest fluorophore we routinely use is Alexa Fluor 594

Hi Sam,
You can use DRAQ5 (Cat#: 65-0880-92) which can be excited at 635nm laser and works as an Alexa Fluor 647 equivalent, but do check out the product information for things that need to be avoided because it has wide excitation and emission spectrum. Also, you can use a primary antibody that binds to a nuclear protein instead of the DNA, if you are using it to locate the cell nucleus for general morphology, then you have many more choices for these targets, such as HMGB1 or many others used in this paper (Article Multiplexed protein maps link subcellular organization to ce...
), and you can add a secondary antibody in Alexa fluor 647 that can be excited with your 635nm laser.Hope this is helpful,
