How can the dynamics of a hard ball on a soft potential surface be simulated?

We intend to simulate the dynamics of a hard ball that is rolling on a soft potential surface. The surface, because it is soft, changes with time, and any time it changes, creates a perturbation of the ball, as well as new (or reduced) depressions. We intend to visualize both the ball and the surface over some discrete times. What would be an optimal programing language and can anyone provide an example code?
