I guess, there is no way to auto-pick the geological faults. I strongly agree with Dr. Mario.
Though, the "machine learning" tools, spectral codes, simulations, algorithms may contribute in auti fault picking development .
In the automated techniques you should design the conditions by which you tell the software you are going to use it which is the most likely to be the fault dominant strike direction and which is most likely to be the noise. However, I have used Ant-tracking attribute technique in Petrel, it needs to be guided as mentioned and it depends on the quality of the seismic data and how much the fault are easy to be predicted. In addition, there is seismic discontinuity attributes such as variance attribute.
