Does this depend on the number research group? Type of research? Type of equipment and measuring devices? Which factor has more impact
It depends on the quality of research. I remember a study that suggested that it takes six years from a study's conception to completion/publication.
Publication lag is 1 to 3 years.
It depends on type of work, research team, facilities, etc. However 3-5 papers would be good enough.
A solid piece of research takes six months to conceptualize; six months to plan; a year to collect data; six months to analyze data; two months to write; two months to get feedback and revise; and then a day to submit. Wait six months for an answer; and wait a year for publication.
1 solid paper every 3 years.
But if you're in a "team" of six or ten people, you might crank out, superficially, several papers a year.
I would take one high quality paper over 20 superficial ones.
