If using an electric heating plate for digestion

First, unless HF is added, acid digestion of soils does not give 'total-P'. With that mixture of acids the H2SO4 will remain, and there is no benefit in having the hotplate temperature above the BP of H2SO4. Indeed, in practice it should be a little less to minimise 'bumping'.
