What is the approximate method of determining a molecular weight of a compound?

for samples such cement compounds, how can I determine their average molecular weight.

Gel permeation Chromatography is a most commonly used methodology to determine the molecular weight of a polymer. There are several types of columns used for this purpose in general the solvent phased used is CD Cl3 or THF. How ever some special cased the columns use water as their mobile phase (polymers that are hydrophobic in nature are analysed using these). I hope this might help, All the best.
