There are certain emotions that lead consumers to purchase, but is there any specific age group in which these emotions are more relevant and create an impact on consumer decision making ?
I would HOPE that rationality would increase with age (to a point)??? I would guess that the 28-50 age category, because after that dementia might play a factor.
I agree that they are always relevant, lets take for example the infant whose first word is coke. He or she will relate the package, the product, the flavor with pleasant feelings and moments. Then the mother takes the child to the market and the child points his o her little finger to the bottle and the mother buys it, by that age emotions are already making him o her a consumer. I disagree that rationality has a profound impact in that. Why? because rationality and emotions are not exclusionary.
I think there should be an age range, but perhaps it is different between male and female, between other demography variables, among product types, etc. As usual, there's no single answer nor single variable in understanding consumer behavior. The more complete you consider the variables the more accurate you get the answer to your inquiry.
Well to my view, it all depends on the psychological and cognitive states. Arousal of psychological state occurs when the human makes rational decisions and rational behaviour increases with age until a certain time. Moreover, it also depends across product categories and demographics. So, relevance of emotions is there for every individual and might be the perfect age would be 25-45. (no statistical evidence)
In marketing, consumer is a king. Age is a one factor in consumer behavior. From the childhood, they emotionally pushes by attraction. But it will differ from various conditions. so particular period of age can't define to the consumer purchase.
