As regarding Electrical Vehicle, inertia of vehicle will plays an important role on deciding limit of ripple in torque produced by the SRM. Sudden change in torque result in sudden variation in speed & acceleration which produces unfavorable experience to the user in term of vibrations & noise. But when SRM is attached to EV, its like very high inertia load is connected to motor and which does not allow sudden change in speed due to sudden change in torque. Thus considering at least 8/4 pole 4 phase SRM for EV, torque ripple is not the case of major issue ans it remains still far better compared to IC engine torque performance.
To have more clear idea about performance of your motor to EV, you can use passive loading scheme in attached paper where you need to adjust only motor inertia according to mass of EV and match speed-torque profile of load to predict behavior of motor on EV load.
