The Q10 faktor is used for characterising the acceleration of Chemical or heat destroy or imultiplication if you change the temperature by 10°C

Q10 was derived from applying first rate order reaction.  It assumes linear progression, which is not always the case in all reaction, i.e. for every 10 oC increased in temperature the reaction will be double in rate reaction.  Food chemistry textbook by Owen Fennema is a good reference.
