The Quantified Judgement Method/Model (QJM) was originally developed to analyze historic battle outcomes and predict future battle outcomes using equations to assess parameters (and impacting factors) influencing results. The QJM looks at factors such as leadership, morale, training, etc., and how they ultimately can assess battlefield success.

When attempting to apply the QJM to a business environment, you must look at the parameters, equations, and important factors, with an eye towards 'translating' a military situation to an analogous business situation. One thing that immediately revealed itself to me is the QJM equation used to assess the combat power of an army (Note: That equation can be translated to business terms fairly easily in my opinion.). The euqtion to assess combat power is as follows: P = S x OE x Q, where:

P = combat power

OE = operational environmental factors

Q = quality of troops

In a business situation, we can equate: i. P to the effectiveness/strength of an organizational workforce; ii. OE to the factors in the work envrionment, and; iii. Q to the level of training and experience of the workforce. There are a lot of resources on QJM, but the best one that i have seen is a master's degree thesis from the United States Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). It is not the only one available, but it is written in a style (well-explained) where one can more efficiently translate from military to business. I included the link for the thesis below.
