Nurse-patient communication is a critical aspect of nursing care, influencing patient outcomes and satisfaction. Effective communication between nurses and patients is essential for individualized nursing care and positive patient outcomes (Kourkouta & Papathanasiou, 2014). It is crucial for both nurses and patients to be aware of communication barriers to improve the quality of nurse-patient communication (Norouzinia et al., 2015). This is particularly important when addressing the specific needs of elderly patients, as effective communication is vital in providing tailored nursing care (Caris-Verhallen et al., 1997). In mental health nursing, communication between nurses and patients is essential for patient well-being and recovery (Berg et al., 2023). Additionally, communication is considered an essential component of nursing expertise, enabling nurses to understand, evaluate, and focus on each patient (Lee et al., 2022). Patient-centered care is a fundamental component of nursing, and effective communication facilitates the development of positive nurse-patient relationships (Slatore et al., 2012). Furthermore, nurse-to-nurse communication can impact patient safety and quality of care (Carrington & Effken, 2011). Nurses play a critical role in engaging patients through communication, emphasizing the importance of effective nurse-patient communication (Singh et al., 2019). Therapeutic communication is a central element of nurse-patient interaction, particularly in providing quality care to cancer patients (Zendeh et al., 2022). Communication among healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, is crucial for high-quality end-of-life care (Ramos et al., 2016). The implementation of therapeutic communication significantly impacts patient satisfaction, highlighting the importance of effective nurse-patient communication (Wahdatin et al., 2020). Effective therapeutic communication minimizes psychological difficulties during the care process and positively affects patient recovery (Prasad.C & Samuel, 2014). The quality of communication between nurses and patients, nurses' knowledge about communication, and the interpersonal communication style employed between nurses and patients are crucial aspects of nurse-patient communication (Chałdaś-Majdańska et al., 2020). Communication barriers, such as workload and patient-related factors, can hinder effective nurse-patient communication. Understanding and addressing these barriers are essential for improving nurse-patient communication and patient outcomes.
