While hardening/acclimatizing micropropagaed orchids it is seen that lowering of the te,perature gives the best result. What might be the best suited physiological as well as molecular reason behind such a phenomenon?
You are talking about acclimatization or acclimation. They are different.
Generally speaking, plants somewhat respond to alteration of temperature through changing the ability of cell membrane to flow the nutrient easily in cold temp and less in hot temp as well as increasing the number of membrane protein such as HSP. HSPs are essential to maintaining the cell function under the stress condition.
Besides the temperature, other factors like humidity, pH and photoperiod are also important.
