I want to model soil-structure interaction using linear spring method. To simulate linear spring in abaqus we want spring stiffness. Many articles i have checked but all of them using non-linear springs. I want an article to propose a formulation for linear spring stiffness .

The linear stiffness concept can be used in ABAQUS software by considering the response of soil is to behave in linear elastic manner. As all are using non linear springs because the response of soils under different loading conditions is non linear in nature. Also, the limitation of linear elastic spring is it does not incorporate the effect of adjacent point or node deformation into the point or node where you would like to know the deformation. In general, linear spring model is discontinuous in nature but the response of soil is continuous in nature so nobody using spring analogy concept..if you sure the response of soil for the given load is linear then use linear elastic model to predict the response. Linear elastic model is available in ABAQUS..ok all the best..

Such formulations can be found in literature for definition of linear springs properties, such as Gazetas (1991) and, Pais and Kausel (1988) for foundation behavior. However I think you should determine your problem exactly.
