The main advantage of using event-triggered control is SAVING input energy/control effort. Meaning that Input is triggered only whenever required by the controller, otherwise, the controller will remain OFF. Mahmoud Hamada
Most of the work and Research on automatic control consider periodic or time triggered control systems, in which continuous time signals are represented by their sampling values at equidistant sampling intervals. However, in some cases, event based control systems need to be considered, where sampling is event triggered rather than time triggered. Other names for these control systems are aperiodic or asynchronous control systems. In an event based system, it is the occurrence of an event rather than the passage of time that determines when to collect samples.
