CO as a weak Lewis base helps to determine acid sites catalysts.

CO TPD profiles gives information about adsorption behavior of the CO gas with surface.

1) As we know Chemisorption follows monolayer adsorption amount of CO gas adsorbed is proportional to the active surface area of the catalyst.

so we can say

Peak area~Amount of CO~ active surface area.

2) Also temperature of desorption shows the strength of CO chemisorption (CO bond with metal surface).

3) Different desorption peaks indicate different binding modes.
